Hello all. I am new to the forum and my user name is stormranch.
I am from Watsonville California and have arrived at Lake McSwain for a week of fishing.
We typically troll for trout with flashers and a bait tipped lure such as a needle fish. We like to use lead core line. Have never fished this lake before and are looking to learn good techniques and hot spots for this lake. BTW am also trying out my Garmin Stryker 4 for the first time.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! 😊

I have been using a Striker 4 for the past couple of years. It takes a little bit to get used to, follow the directions. And then you have to play with it yourself to get it fine tuned.

I am fishing lake McSwain CA, primary focus is trolling for trout. Plan on using what has typically worked for us in the past but was wondering if anyone can share any tips, or where I can find a detailed map of the lake. Am going to drive up to the park entrance to look for info.

Thanks and catch all of the big ones unless your right next to me!

Welcome Stormranch! Lead core line is okay just watch for the shallow water. A lot of the lake is around 20 feet and the deepest parts around 50. Flashers with a lure at the end or night crawler have both worked for me. Stay towards the middle trolling between the dam and up past the bathroom. I've heard the fishing has been slow this year. If you are there a whole week you can always go up seven miles and check out McClure, a much larger and deeper lake. Good luck!
