Red Necks with Paychecks

Well, most non-Texans consider us wild and crazy bunch of people but let me direct you to some truly crazy people. I would have sent their announcement of their annual mud crawl if I knew how to transfer their post, but you can tap in directly by going to Red Necks with Paychecks!

This is an annual event just outside the town of Saint Jo, Texas, maybe four or five miles on 1200 acres of private property. When it first opened, my friend the editor and owner of the Saint Jo Tribune decided to drive out and take some pictures for the local paper. He was surprised to find he could not even get close due to the line of participants and such. He and his wife just turned around a went home.

Now besides the riding club and local rodeo held each summer, this event draws a crowd! And I don’t mean just a few local ‘crazies’, but from other states and long distances. It is serious and there have been fatalities, so it is serious mud crawling!

On the other side of Saint Jo is the Red River Motor Cross with a different schedule but again wild, crazy people on hot motor bikes racing up and down steep canyons at breakneck speeds. I have no doubt that sane people would never dare do what these riders would do. So, for you folks who believe some of us Texans are crazy, here is your proof! But don’t ask me for my personal experiences, I have stayed away! You can have my ringside seat. Just Sayin…RJS

Some people will do anything for the adrenaline rush, even if it kills them.
