I have a downrigger that's a pain to use, so I use lead core line and need it to go a little deeper. I have 1 & 2 oz. Swivels with the small chain on both ends. These weights are made for trolling, but I need to figure out where they put them on the line, above the flashers, the bottom of the flashers or at the point the leader is connected. Any ideas?

Above the flashers. Connect the weight to the main line, add a 20-30 lb bumper about 2 or 2 1/2 feet long (allows the flasher to work better), the flasher, then the terminal tackle (bait). Good luck!

I put my trolling weights above the flashers. I do not not use lead core line, but when Iā€™m not utilizing my downriggers I will tie the trolling weight to my main line then put a twelve inch leader from the trolling weight to the flashers. A 1 oz. Trolling weight will put my presentation about 10ft deep depending on trolling speed. It works for me!

You can also add a snap weight to the main line .It makes it easier to change the weight and can be removed when bringing in a fish, shortens up the overall line and makes it easier to net your catch.

It has a clamp that holds onto the main line and a split ring that connects to the sinker.check basspro website and enter snap weight

FYI
They hold position very well and I have not noticed any line damage.

Makes sense attaching the weight to the main line, that's the way I attached it but got to thinking it could be wrong. Thanks to everyone that replied, this is a great forum šŸ‘

You can always try using a diver, Jet or Dipsey either one, to get that depth.

Can also use an in-line sinker. I use a heavy or medium heavy rod, no down rigger. Tie your main line to one end and your fluorocarbon leader of any length to the other. I use anywhere from a 1 to 4 oz weight depending on the lure I am using and depth I want to be at. Trolling speed plays into it too, slower the speed, deeper the lure goes, around 2 mph works well. Bass Pro has them, but at times some weight sizes are sold out and not listed.
