Caught off Blackfish Banks reef (railcars) today. Son caught the cobia and we also caught a handful of flukes (shorts), triggerfish, and toadfish. Surfcasting tomorrow on Assateague.
Cobia is a very tasty fish.

Indeed! Marinated in soy, ginger and mirin and grilled last night after we got back. Yummy!

Thanks bands. It was an eye opening experience for my son who's never experienced big game ocean fishing.

Thanks Ss. The boy is no longer an offshore big game saltwater virgin. He instagrammed his freshwater fishing buddies and instantly claimed bragging rights.

That really sounds like a great flavor profile.

Our first time out to the wrecks (we normally fish the bay or surfcast off Assateague). I had no idea they were so spread out. It's like a fish smorgasbord

Hey, thanks, Jar! Kinda tastes like and has a similar texture as swordfish. Those were pretty hefty chunks--that's a 9 x 13 pan. Had to cut pretty deep to remove the blood line so each chunk is either the top or bottom section of a filet. Glad we had freezer space. Nothing wasted though; we used the cutout bloodline for bait the next day.🎣🎣🎣
