Hi all! I’ve had an 18’ Tracker since 2001 and love it. Here in Central Oregon our water levels are dropping and in September ( favorite month to fish) it’s very difficult to find a good ramp for it. I’ve been trying out our 9’ tender but it’s heavy and I haul it in my utility trailer (also heavy). It’s been just ok. I finally found and purchased a great little 1979 Sears Gamefisher (13-14’) with trailer and I’m beyond excited to get it out. Which lakes do you like in September, and what are some upgrades you’ve done to your aluminum boats?
Can’t help with Oregon fishing, but I like your username!
Hi Gmchief! Folks always ask me what I’m fishing for, and this is always my answer!
Crane Prairie has plenty of water. Very good for trout and bass. Summer and fall are great times to go.
Really?!?! I heard it was low! I’ll give it a shot
Wickiup is very low but Crane had lots of water when I was there a month ago.
Give Bob at Sun River a call for lake updates. Crane Prairie has always been my favorite. Good luck, Jeff

Great handle Whateverbites!! You’re close to Paulina and East Lake. I’ve had great luck for trout in Paulina in years past. I just reseated my Old Valco aluminum last year. Got it painted, but I’m not happy with it, so will probably paint it again. If I can get the Old Evenrude running, might try those again in the future. Till then, one of my Kayak’s or a buddy’s boat will work for me. Good luck out there, and stay safe!
Thanks RuffplayOR57! If your handle has anything to do with birthdays, we may have more than fishing in common! The Gamefisher came with the original Ted Williams motor. I’m going to use a trolling motor until I learn to be a grease monkey!
The one lake producing is Billy Chinook. No problem launching, go to Perry south and go up the Metolious arm until you get to housing area and you will boat at the line where the cold water from the river meets the hot water from the lake… the fish size up to14 inches. Kokes will be there for another 2 weeks before they move up to spawn
Or they turn red…
Will be there with my Boston Whaler
Till they move up. Also like your pen name, very special.
Thanks for the tip Manuel. My 18’ Tracker
is put up so I’m fishing out of a 14’ aluminum with trolling motor. I don’t think I’m up for that journey! I did get out on Paulina Sunday and no one was catching. Tight lines!
Last Sunday my daughter and I went out on Paulina. Nobody getting anything, but everyone enjoying the weather. Until we didn’t. 6 pm and wind change brought in smoke smoke smoke. The lake cleared in a hurry! I did realize how much I’m going to enjoy my new boat. Until the trailer had an issue coming home! Ah well, that’s fishing for you; it keeps it interesting!
