I like to use fluorocarbon for leader line with braid, but it’s so expensive, I found some p line flouroclear for about $10, does anyone use this? Any good? I’ve read that people like it and people don’t, so reviews don’t tell me anything. And, what is copolymer?

PLine flouroclear works great for me in NJ.

Uncle T - copolymer is two or more different strands of nylon fused together, compared to monofilament which is a single extruded strand of nylon. It's stronger than straight mono at the same weight b/c of its multiple strands, and it sinks faster than both mono and fluoro. It's more invisible than mono but not as invisible as fluoro. P-Line Floroclear is copolymer with an outer coating of fluorocarbon. The fluoro coating helps refract light so it's more invisible than mono. I've tied on P-Line Floroclear as a leader and it's stiffer than fluorocarbon making it more sensitive and has better knot strength so less breakoffs, but the stiffness also makes it easier for a fish to throw a hook. The deal breaker for me is that it's not as invisible as straight fluoro so I only use it as backup leader material. My son on the other hand loves it and has two bc spools with all Floroclear and says he doesn't get as many breakoffs as mono or fluoro.

I use p line fluoroclear and have not had any problems with it. I prefer copolymer over fluorocarbon or mono.

A great description of a copolymer. Personally I prefer copolrmer lines over mono or fluorocarbon because of the superior knot strength and abrasion resistance. The stiffness factor is a minor issue for me and in some cases preferred.

Thank you guys for the replies, your input is very much appreciated, I’m going to try it and see if I like it, and the description of copolymer is excellent.
Thank you again

I really like P-line fluorocarbon for my leaders. Never tried the the flouroclear. So I can’t speak to its benefits. I’ve been very satisfied with all their products. They are are a local company and my daughter’s close friends father owns the company so guess I’m a little partial to them!

I like P-line for its abrasion resistance, but it does have memory issues. It works in certain conditions just like other types of lines.

And a great discussion DG.

Copolymer is harder to see underwater and it stretches less than mono I’ve use flouro from the beginning and braid exclusively on all my reels no stretch.I’m comfortable with this application. What you need to do is get a rod with a soft tip when throwing crank baits, trolling, or bait fishing it gives the fish a shot of inhaling the bait. So no matter what you always wind up spending more money than you’d like good luck

I am a flouro and braid kind of guy as well even if I use a rod without a soft tip at least I can feel the bites, I don’t like mono at all I only use it as backing for the braid and for drop shot rigs, at $18 to $22 a spool for flouro, I thought I’d give this flouroclear a shot, I’ve yet to try it I’ve got to wait till Tuesday, Tuesday is fishing day 😁

P Line flouro is good, don't like the coplymer, it seperates from the outside and frays too easy

Hello Neighbor - I went through Chatsworth, yesterday, on my way home.
The closest lake to me is Carters, and rather than getting highly technical, I simply use light monofilament, jigs which I make myself, and what ever it takes to get fish from down there to up here.
On carters, I either catch a monster...or nothing.
Have you been out fishing, lately ? JG

Ok, tried the P line flouroclear as a leader line,
It’s ok, not going to complain about it, will still choose straight fluorocarbon as a first choice,
