It's been 5 days since I've held a rod, probably a dozen more before I do.
I'm in Pagosa Springs, Colorado on Wildland Fire assignment. Some of my old stomping grounds. Nothing serious, but a lot of public interest.
But, I will be enjoying some beautiful scenery.

Thanks for everything you do Fireguy, and be safe out there. It's a beautiful area.
Call me when you get home. I got some intel on a couple of places to try.
Looks like where I live in the Rogue Valley....'cepting we got some smoke from one those fires like you fight, coming down from the top end of the state.
Here's to hoping your skies stay clear and you and your heroic buddies don't have much to do.
We do appreciate our Wildland Firefighters to the max !
Thank you ALL !

Well Fixor, I'm home from CO, and heading to the Lookout Fire near Sisters on Thursday. More beautiful country. Still no fishin'
Oh ... I believe that's where some of our smoke down here is coming from.....and when the wind shifts (!), we get some from the Happy Camp Complex, just over the border in Cali.
Living in a "caldera valley" like this (Rogue Valley..SW corner of Oregon), we and others are sometimes recipients of some really smoky air, particulate #s above 300, really nasty days...mask or even respirator, if you need to work outside for any length of time....like mowing the lawn ! Feel sorry for the construction and road crews who have no choice, can't really do any "indoor work" at all.
Which brings me to.....THANKS FOR COMING TO HELP US OREGONIANS !!
We certainly appreciate your service !
If we're having such a mess breathing the air that we have, this far away from the actual blazes, we are all the more grateful to y'all who are standing right next to it. You have our respect, for sure. Again....thanks for what you do.

Thanks Fixor!
Yup, living in some of those valleys can be brutal when the inversion holds for any length of time. Happy Camp on the Klamath is notorious for that. The marine layer that impacts the area where I'm heading will hold smoke early, then usually clears with the heating of the day.
