I’m a 71 year old Vietnam Vet who is semi-retired. While I was growing up my dad took me hunting for deer & elk, but no fishing. So I am just getting started with fishing and would greatly appreciate any tips and advice you might be willing to share. I have inherited my dad’s jet sled, so I have transportation, just need advice on lures and such for rivers, lakes & salt waters. Thanks so much!

I recommend that you ask about specific locations a week before you go. That will give readers time to respond. Given the general nature of your question, I could fill pages with advice and empty your bank account with tackle purchases. And still never hit on the fishing you have in mind. On top of that, salmon fishing changes from week to week.

It would be smart to use the internet and go to the WDFW and review any lakes you plan to fish. There is a great deal of specific info on YouTube as well. For more current info, join Northwest Fishing Reports. I get no adds or crap from that site, but with membership (free) I can bring up all the success and failure reports on a specific locations by date for the past few years. It is a much better site than this one for fishing reports. Once you know when and where you would like to go, then come here and you will likely get the best info on how to from someone who fishes there, or someone who fishes near by.
This sight is more like a few fishing friends (only thousands of friends across the country) sitting around over a cup of coffee. Most on here are ready to share info.
Lacey is south of my general fishing areas, but the local tackle shops may be able to get you on the road. You have the biggest Cable's north of Portland right there in town, so tackle should be no problem. They used to also have a fishing report board. If you want more reliable local info, contact a private tackle or bait store face to face. Fishermen are usually more likely to share than hunters, so don't be afraid to ask.

Hi
Try Verle's in Shelton .
360-426-0933 .
They're a full service fishing and boat facility just a few minutes down the road from you.

They usually have all the latest news from customers that buy their fishing supplies there.
