Anyone fished Hat Creek lately?

Was there 2 weeks ago. Fished the bridge n fishing was good. Water level was still higher than normal but fishable. All the fish were planters n on the small side

I was there 3 weeks ago and caught some huge rainbows from the canal in Cassel. There is a PGE campground there too. also Baum Lake and the spillway next to the hatchery can be good. At the hatchery in the far left front tank were the biggest rainbows I've ever seen. Must have been 15-20 ponnders nearly 3 ft long. just seeing them is a thrill. Probably their brood stock.

Stayed at Hat Creek Resort with our TT (July 11-14). Water high and fast. No more stocking in the campgrounds, (as per hatchery) they took down the sign that said "free access." They are still stocking along that area in all state campgrounds and other areas along Hat Creek. How do I know? Was fishing about 6 miles past the "resort" where a bridge crosses the creek. I was wetting a line under the bridge and they came and dumped about 5 net fulls over the bridge. Some big ones in the mix. Oh, I didn't get one either, but got two over the 4 days.

I’m going back up to the upper sac area in 2 weeks. Will make a day or two trip over to hat creek area n kangaroo lake.
