Well, we tried. Met Steve and Ben at the Berkeley Marine about 6:45 am Sunday, prepped and loaded the boat and headed over to SF to get live bait. On the way out we saw “the fleet” on the Berkeley flats and came back there and started drift fishing live anchovies for Halibut. There were 50-75 boats there, a mix of commercial, charter and private boats. I didn’t see some of the usual charter boats and I suspected they were outside the gate on the bar. We drifted for 2-3 hours without even a bite. Wind was picking up so I thought we’d try paradise cove as it’s protected from the wind and I’ve had luck there before. But again, no luck except Ben did land a shark. The ride back was a bit “nautical” but still was a beautiful day out with good friends!

Sorry to hear NO Joy Denny. At least Ben's shark chased the skunk off the boat. You'll get'em next time. Thanks for the pictures.

We had a great time out on the water but as was said, no Halibut.
I just don't seem to have the MOJO for catchin Halibut.
OH well. I took some pics of the Bay but you'll have to zoom in to see any details.
The first 2 are of the kites. the 3rd one over the motor is of a distant San Quinten Prison.
The 4th is of the Golden Gate in the distance.
Last one is of the SF skyline.
Thanks for a nice time out on the water Denny.

Glad you guys had a great time! We’re any other boats catching? I know that there’s a alge bloom occurring up in the paradise area. Been watching it for a week driving over the San Rafael Richmond bridge. Was the water an abnormal reddish brown? We fished last years bloom and didn’t find fish for weeks.

Didn't see anyone catching. Maybe one net pulled out and a quick release.

Sounds just like last years bloom. No fish. We are/were supposed to fish halibut 3 days this week. I’m canceling until it clears up. I’ve talked to a few others that have been lately and they went home empty.
