Hi, approaching Soldotna, looking to fish on Kenai, it's raining steady. Is it okay to get in river, or does it run unpredictably?

Zoet510, I was there last month and no rain, but it’s a large river and did fluctuate with the tides where we were at. I think you’ll be fine and the rain will help the fish runs. Just beware of where you’re at (single river vs. confluence of rivers) and make note of water conditions on entering, watch as the day progresses and what the other fisherman (should be plenty there) are, or are not, doing. Good luck and tights lines!

The Kenai is a large powerful river with drop-offs along many banks. The visibility is very very poor due to glacial silt. For the most part, just stay out of the water and stay safe.

Just an update. I don't know when you are going, but the summer run of reds are in fill swing right now, with 190,000 fish a day coming in on the high tide. There was only 17,000 just a few days ago.
