Hey guys, Wrench and I went to the pet River today for Stripers.
I picked him up at -6-- and we got to the water bout 0630. Started to fish bout 0645 and had one in the boat within the first 15 min. Not sure when. It was a short but the first of 18 fish.
We continued to catch fish throughout the river and finally started to get a few keepers later in the morning.
It was overcast early and finally started to burn off around 1030. The fishin really picked up once the sun came out and we started to catch bigger fish.
Finally ended up with our limit of 4.
Smallest was 18 1/2 the largest was bout 21. All nice eatin size.
I let Wrench have all of them. So I didn't have to fillet ANY fish today.
I took 1 pic of Wrench with 1 small fish on the boat but all the keepers were later so just the after catchin pic.
Did have one accident. Wrench got a hook all the way through the outer edge of his right hand I believe. Just caught the skin on the outside base of his little finger.
That little Striper just wouldn't hold still and the hook got him while he was tryin to get the Boca grips on it.
It went all the way through and I was able to pinch the barb down and finally get it out but it still wasn't easy.
Those are XTRA strong heavy duty hooks on those 1OZ Rattle Traps and the cutters we had wouldn't cut the hook.
It didn't stop him from fishin and catchin for the rest of the morning.
We caught out last fish bout 11 and were off the water by 1130 I think.
Thanks for such a great day Gary.
By the way.
We were trollin down the river when this Arima boat comes up on us and they slow down and the guy says," Are you Saw1?"
I couldn't hear what all he said but I said "Yeah".
They came in while we were getting ready to leave the lot to go home and he introduced himself and his wife.
So "HEY" to John Walker and his lovely bride. Glad to have met you.
Hope you have better luck next time if you can order those big 1OZ Rattle Traps.
Everybody take care and behave yourselves. I'm headed back up to Tahoe in the morning.
