If you've seen one, you've seen them all.
My wife and I went out on the lake at 4:15 p.m.
By 5 p.m we'd caught 6 Northern Pike all about 28 inches or more except one.
If you've seen one, you've seen them all.
Saved one for tomorrows supper.

That's one husky customer there! Beautiful big Northern pike, and what fun to have also caught several others too!

Good fishing there Grandpa, that's fast catching, I live in central Florida and never had a chance to catch a Northern Pike they looks like a (pickerel) that we have here they look to be about the same fish!!
I hate it when they hit my top water lure because usually it's no longer useable after that πŸ˜‚ but they do put up a good fight, you must have been steady reeling them in🎣🎣

Nice. I am sure glad there is a bias against northers for food. So many get thrown back, making more dinners for those of us that know how to clean them. What a great fish on the rod and on the dinner plate.

bapabear, they are good eating but you have to know how to clean them like you said, when I want to catch them I use old plugs just for them they will hit just about anything. I cut the sides off and leave the skin on and then cut crossways about every 1/2'' and that lets the hot grease dissolves all those little hair bones and the meat just comes right off the skin πŸ˜‹

I use the five filet method with good success. I like panko breaded fried fish. I will have to try your method when I again get to fish in pike water. I have to drive about 5 or 6 hours to reach pike water in Eastern WA or Idaho. Thanks

I don't know if they are the same fish as a Northern Pike but looks like the same. Most people here don't eat them either, that's like the garfish not many people eats them but they are really good eating πŸ˜‹ you just take a meat cleaver and chop down the top of it's back and cut out what I call the (back strap)that runs down both sides of the fish.. now that's a great piece of fish. The filet mignon of fish.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I was raised in the country and there's a lot of stuff you can eat in the water and on the land that people don't even know. Hope you are having a great day, Chuck

I don't know if they are the same fish as a Northe... (show quote)

There is not much I won't try. That being said, there is not much I have not liked. Nothing that I can think of from the water except dried squid as a snack. It is just to strong for my liking, but makes good broth.
