Hadn't heard that from any of my sources, DC, and I watch a vast variety of TV networks, subscribe to and read daily, 3 newspapers, and discuss the current political situations with quite a few folks. Gotta a reference as to who stated/where observed, this obviously bold and incorrect statement was uttered ? Do tell, please.

He made the statement while giving a speech on mental health, which I will grant you is not his strong point. He said "I said I'd cure cancer. They looked at me like, why cancer? Because no one thinks we can. That's why, and we can. We ended cancer as we know it," now I know he miss spoke and what he was suppose to say was "we can end cancer as we know it" but that is not what he said, he said "we ended cancer as we know it"

That makes a bit more sense now. In addition to my TV and newspaper habit, I subscribe to two online scientific journals, and have "science breakthroughs" pinned on my feeds. Not to mention that my older brother, the MD and PhD in Biochemistry...who spent 50++ years working mostly on cancer research and cures with major drug companies and research hospitals....and has said nothing about any breakthroughs of late. And we just talked last week.... something he would mention, I am certain.

Thanks for the reference DC....gaffs of this magnitude are rather scary and could possibly be quite harmful, if for no other reason than someone WITH cancer gets false hope....and that's inexcusable.

I doubt anyone took him seriously on this, he has a history of saying things that are unbelievable gaffs. but I am glad there are people like your brother that are working on treatments and cures for cancer. don't know if a cure will be found since there seems to be many causes both known and unknown. this and other research like it should be embraced by people of all political views and not used as a partisan issue by either parties

i heard a snippet on the radio from a speech he gave somewhere and he did say that
