Fishing still fairly slow in our local lakes. Went to Skinner this morning with Rick. On the water at 6:30 and had my first hook up at 6:45. Jumped once and after about a minute the line broke. Probably frayed from a previous trip. Was a decent fish in the 3-4 lb range. Four cast later with different pole, I hook a nice fish and manage to land it, and it is a decent 3.52 lb LMB. Figure this is a great start to the day. Rest of the morning just a couple of dinks. Buddy got skunked. Off the water at 10am before it got really hot.

Da Skunk Buster, and largest fish of the day.

Nice Fish Garey. I've gotten into the habit of replacing my fluoro leaders after every trip. All it takes is one nick in the line to spoil your whole morning. Thanks for the picture buddy.

Thanks Fred, think it was a pole I was using in S.D.Bay on Wed. Had a busy Thur and just didn't check it like I normally do. My Bad and my loss.

When we are in PA, every evening back at the Hotel, I can be found in the back of my Yukon, retieing for the next morning.

Fred - did you use the same length of fluoro leader for all your rods?

I only use leaders on my spinning rods DC, but yes I use about 6ft.on both. On the MH 15lb braid to 12lb fluoro, and on the M 10lb braid to 8lb fluoro. On my Baitcasters I run straight braid on the Jig rod and Topwater rod, and straight fluoro on the Crankbait rod.

Life is a Beach young GUY. Awesome catches. Even if a leader broke you still hooked it. Thanks for letting us all know.

Stay cool because you are cool and avoid the heat.

Thanks, Fred. (Sorry OBG, didn't mean to hijack your thread). So the leader knot rubbing against the guides and rod tip doesn't bother you? Well you did say you retied every night so it that might be a non issue. Use an FG, double uni, or some other line to line knot?

I use an Albright knot because it's thinner than a double uni. Only the braid has wraps, not the fluoro. No issues going through the guides.

In case you look that knot up, I only do 16 wraps, not the 25-30 that they recommend. It works fine.
