Late post, but last week I got my PB striper. This beast put up a good fight. Got him on freshly caught grass shrimp(in a minnow trap) and anchovy combo. It actually put up a good fight too. 28 inches and pretty heavy, didn’t get an exact weight.

Looks like you are fishin off the wall across from Mare Island. We fish just up river from the Hwy 37 bridge.
Where did you put your trap in to catch the bait and what did you use to bait your minnow trap with?
Congrats on such a nice fish. When were you fishin? We were out there yesterday, 7 18 23, from 0700 till bout 2PM.

That's a great fish! Congratulations. I'm still waiting to land a big'n. I usually get out and comb the shores from Glenn Cove Marina in Vallejo up to the bridges and the Maritime Academy. I almost always catch fish but they are usually small. Last trip I did hook into a big one but she took me in the rocks and broke me off clean. Really nice catch you got there.

Yup that’s exactly where I was fishing, when facing the water all the way to the left of the ferry. I put my minnow trap right over the wall and leave it for at least an hour before checking it. I throw in left over meat, a can of tuna with oil or deviled ham, and a bunch of frozen anchovies that have been refrozen a bunch of times. Usually I’m getting about a quart size ziplock bag full of shrimp from it.

Thanks! I’m actually at glen cove fishing right now. Haven’t hooked anything big or even keeper size here since last year but it’s worth a try.
