First trip to Mingus Lake mainly to escape the Verde Valley heat. No fish and ya know that's ok bc I don't mind watching 8 deer walking on the other side of the pond. Power bait at all depths didn't make any difference. But I will say there are fish in the pond bc on two occasions with my back to the water, Hugh splash. Let there at noon in 85 degrees. Will definitely go back again.
I went fly fishing yesterday from 8 am to 10am at Mingus lake.. Really disapointed. NO bites, even tho I changed flies often. Even tried a floating dragonfly. I'm sure there are fish in there, but ????. Prob won't go up there anymore, will hit lower Lake Mary instead. No one else was fishing there while I was fishing. A few small rises.
Early, going back a few months the lake did produce some nice rainbows. Also caught small cats. I bet when it’s cooler, they will be more active.
I'll go back again but yes maybe a bit cooler.
