Too bad he failed to show HOW to put doughbait on those #14-16 hooks. Only use enough to totally cover the hook, and "compact" it well, less likely to come off during cast. I prefer to use a couple of the rubber-type bobber stoppers and a bead as a bumper with a small egg sinker, rather than just a split shot. Three advantages...#1.. the fish won't be able to detect the resistance of the weight, so it will try to swim off with the bait, unaware of its fate. #2... with a small (1/4-1/2oz.) egg sinker you can cast further and easier (accurately) to your targeted spot. #3... with the bobber stoppers/bead set up, adjustment of the height of your bait off the bottom can be altered to get it higher if the bottom is weedy. I have moved it to 36-48" sometimes to overcome the problem. A "corky"(those little bright-colored floating foam/plastic beads salmon fishermen use are perfect for floating worms off the bottom in much the same manner as using Powerbait. Just put one between the hook and sinker, it'll end up where it's needed, ..up by the worm. The young man also failed to mention... SHOEPEG corn works better than just your ordinary green giant or whatever. Larger kernels and a bit tougher, so stays on the hook better. Can also be drained and soaked overnight in Pro-cure (or even garlic powder/oil concoction) for an even "tastier" tidbit. I rarely use more than 1or2 kernels. Also great for tipping a "wedding ring" lure when trolling for 'bows and deadly necessary for Kokanee. (Pautzke's Firecorn is a good RTU choice,as well)
Has anybody tried the "no refrigerator needed" worms from Walmart ? I noticed they have a "fluorecent green" version. Curious as to those well. Anybody have luck , kudos or diss ?

I use small crawlers and use no weight. cast upstream and let it drift naturally. Also found that a small size silver Kastmaster lure kicks ass.

i've used the " no refrigerator" worms from walmart and if you buy them, put them in the fridge.
I liked the old fashion worms a lot better.

Best trout bait in S.Jersey/Eastern PA is a yellow with red dots and gold willow blade Panther Martin lure.

Casting hair jigs and small paddle tail jigs also work well for trout. I like popping the hair jigs along bottom. The paddle tail ones just cast and retrieve. Much more fun to fish than dead sticking. Here is a video showing what I'm talking about.

Flies, nymphs etc definitely the best if you fly fish. Otherwise I like trout nuggets for hatchery fish, 1/8 or 1/12 oz acme kastmaster spoons, Berkley mouse tails on a drop shot type rig using one or two small tin split shot for the weight and 4 or 6 lb clear mono for the hook and bait on a 4 lb flourocarbon line works for me. I have caught hatchery fish and older browns on that. Trout worms (small earthworms) are killer, but so much of where I fish for trout is C&R for all or some period of the year or the creel limit is 2 fish when you can keep so I don’t like to use them. In my experience a trout will gut hook a worm every time , circle hook or not. A number 10 or 12 circle hook is pretty small and Mr. Trout will take that in one swallow. And yes I fish in a cold water fishery where the stocked trout will over winter multiple seasons.
