Went carping in 84 degree Colonial Lake this evening during a thunderstorm. Threw out a can of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released a 35 lb snapping turtle 🐢 on my first cast of the day with Bowl and Basket whole kernel corn. Then caught and released an 8 lb snapping turtle. Landed 63 turtles this year.

How did you get the hook out of that bad boy's mouth without losing a finger??

Now that is a strange way to start the day. But I bet it was fun!

I got very lucky and the 3 hooks popped out while I was putting the turtle 🐢 into a 5 gallon bucket 🪣 that wasn’t big enough to hold it.

I once had a park ranger.release just a bit smaller than that one right directly in front of me while I was fishing for gills. I'm pretty sure any captured have to be released to where they came from. Otherwise, why put it back into a fishing pond.

It all depends on the body of water and the state laws. Back in the day, that would have gone in both the frying pan and soup pot at my house.

Back in the day, Campbell's soup would buy all you could bring them.
