July brought the heat, with no rain at all,
So bassin has taken a break.
But Tuesday we went out and had us a ball,
On our favorite smooth, shiny lake.
The early hit sucked, no fish did we get,
But bass heard the 10 o'clock bell.
In just a few minutes I'd built up a sweat,
And topwater did really well.
I showed wife the photos, and she sweetly said,
"That's one fish in three pictures, honey"...
But bass stripes don't lie, so her face is red,
Then she quipped "you should fish for money!"

Great pome, and catching Mike! I wish we could UPS some of our rain down to your neck of the woods. We still have rivers over their banks, and another couple of days worth of storms on the way. Thanks for sharing my friend.

My fishmate is the most polite-est, respectfulest, funnest person ever to fish. I can be puttin it on him, suggest he put on what the fishies want, set him up with perfect casts, yet he insists on throwing his chosen regulars, even keeps using his old equipment. Cracks me up. That hawg bluegill, aka "flatbass" ๐, dang near yanked his pole out of his hands. You'd think he had a 7# bass hooked up, especially with his ultralight setup. He's a joy to fish with, and we've been doing it since 1968. Frick! We're old!!

Know what, Fredster, I'd pay for the freight on UPS just to get some rain. There'd be folks chipping in, too. We gotta be careful what we pray for, tho, cause the lake is just above powerpool now. Last year we had 10' too much water. This is just right. A couple of your rain storms and we'd be in rhe trees again, literally! I appreciate the kind words. ๐ค

Thatโs really awesome. A buddy for 54-55 years. It is said most people only have so many great friends. Glad you got to hook some fish while the bite was HOT. Stay cool like you always are. Glad you have a buddy that is so cool and for so long.

Yessir, there have been some pretty amazing things happen since I moved home. Was in lots of other places, including both coasts, whilst I grew up. I know I've told this story before, but to me it's danged special and I don't take one thing for granted. I've disproved (for me, anyway) that old sayin that you can't ever go home, that nothing will be the same. There have been lots of folks leave this world that I'd have loved to reunite with, like customers my parents had at their store, but some are still around and my memory bank is full. Thanks Jeremy. Your words hit home. ๐๐

Youโre a great man. If home is on or near a fishing location and good people itโs a great thing. I grew up in a small town worked in the further out rural farming community and the small towns and larger city there were pretty great during my growing years. Parents were very involved in the community had a great yearly event and many families and fun etc.
Currently the decent fed jobs are mostly GONE and the town I grew up in is ghetto / ghost town now. Houses and churches burn down etc. the local volunteer fire department facility is still there with late model equipment but NO average middle class people there to operate them. Fire fighters come and use them but usually the Military fire departments from 3 and 15 miles away show up to try and water down the destroyed structures and hopefully others didnโt go up. No real fishing there etc. itโs a very depressing thing but you are lucky to have the chance to go home to a great place.

Dadgum! I may have a bad case of PUJS, though. Pantera Upgrade Jealousy Syndrome. Looks like your ignition doesn't sit directly above control buttons below throttle. Aggravating design, mine is.
Thanks for sharing BCB brother!
