Any body local that knows the canal , I would like to try it, seams like it is full of big fish. Just Leary about locations, and the hardcore nuts down there. I not intending on taking someone’s spot just finding some open water to fish

good luck with that. I gave up on the canal. too many "unfriendly" guys that will purposely keep crossing your line to get you to leave.
I know just looking for someone to give the Kay of the landscape, canal is big I dont need to fish on top of somebody

the regulars that fish there know where the fish hold. when you see a large stretch that is open fish don't hold there so you won't catch anything. I'd start at the Maritime academy end of the canal with an outgoing tide.

I don't know about ANGRY people but would suggest scoping out both sides at dead low tide because there are sand bars/sunken jetties that game fish hide behind to rest and wait for food to come along as the tide comes and goes. Such spots aren't visible at mid and high tides.
Check the tides carefully, high tide at one end of the canal will be different than at the other end.
Hi Neil, regulars on canal aren’t unfriendly, just the opposite, I am one of them, to fish canal, you need a bike, tides are east and west, high or low doesn’t matter, if there is a lot of guys, try to be in sinc with them, if they are jigging, you jig too, if fish are breaking, fish too water, anywhere from Scusset to herring run is good on east tides, west tide Bourne bridge to Maritime, stay away from Bell road, is a Zoo there, I fish Maritime alot, have been getting Albies there recently, if you see a tan Tacoma with rod racks, stop and say hello, we all talk to each other
