I was going to finally take a day off today but woke up early and had a nice breezy morning so that's a good time to fish Havasu when it's hot, on a windy day. So I go three and a half hours without a hit and decided to drift back in that nice breeze to Mesquite Bay South dragging a purple worm on one rod and a white pearl worm on the rod in the rod holder. Finally the rod in the rod holder bends over double and I grabbed it and felt like a good hit. Brought it in about 30 ft and realized I was definitely caught, hung up on something big time. So I opened the bail paddled back into a stiff breeze to get on the other side of the obstacle and ended having to do it three times because the wind was blowing me back over my line.
That ugly stick was bending and bending and I was very close to getting the knife to cut the line instead of breaking the rod tip and then all of a sudden...bam I'm free but I've got what I'm guessing is a big wad of weeds on the other end. Yes plenty of weeds but also a 3 lb Largemouth fighting his way to the kayak. What a crazy finish and had I ended up cutting the line he certainly would have died tangled up as he was. Fish for another hour and never had a hit the rest of the morning so headed home. Crazy day.

Congrats on getting her out of the salad Langer. They have a unique ability to bury themselves in cover, in my case it's usually wood. Patience is the key. Nice catch.
