I've heard of using ultralight gear when you're fishing, but I never imagined taking it this far!

I saw it on one of the Asian online shopping sites.
At that price, it's probably about the quality of a Cracker Jacks prize!

That's true John, but I believe that they at least pay their employees. Which is why you don't see brand name reels for $12.

Micro fishing is gaining popularity in Japan. But they are not using $12 reels. I occasionally spend some days micro fishing, but that is totally by accident.

Hmmm. That thing looks basically useless to me . I would imagine it’s Chinese, but could be wrong . I will buy stuff from South Korea , because they are a more civilized country in Asia , a political ally , and good government . Also MOST ( not all ) decent / good bass fishing reels come from there . I won’t buy China stuff . If I pay more for something from Korea instead of China , ok. No big deal to me . I’ve said it before on this site that China ain’t our friends . If anybody thinks different , go ahead and buy Chinese , but if you do , you are helping their military …..My 2cents…

In my own experience, "ultralight" doesn't refer to my tackle so much as it describes the fish I catch!

I Agree.

My first thought was....how much 2 or 4lb line could you put on that reel.

And then there is matching reel weight to rod weight to get that perfect balance needed for ultralight fishing.

My vote...Nope, piece of junk even at $12.00 uh yen.

The higher end ( supposedly higher end ) just have CEOs that have way more money they receive as profit. Engineering is spendy but once so many units of anything are sold it’s very profitable. Nike is a PERFECT example. Many people make tons of money on cheap labor. Sporting good clothing. Even if it’s a sporting good logo on them.

I believe it says in the beginning of the description that it's for ice fishing, which doesn't require much line.

Well ....it's cute. Might make a nice desk ornament at work, or on the shelf in your man cave.

The description is a poor translation, but yes, that one may work fine for ice fishing where you don’t need much line capacity in shallow water.
