Ocean City Maryland surf fishing…what’s biting?

Anyone been to Ocean City Maryland lately surf fishing? If so, what’s biting and with what bait/lures? Will be there starting next week and just trying to get a head start.

I was on the southern end of Assateague last week. Caught small spot and kingfish. Cut up the spot but nothing was interested. Down on the Chincoteague side of Assateague, there are lots of shark in the inlet but didn’t catch any in the surf. Going back in a few days.

Good info, thank you. When were you fishing, i.e., early morning, evening into the night? Same last year in July, mackerel were biting and caught a few spot, looks like it’s going to be the same this year.We did catch a small shark last year, an Eagle Ray 51” measuring from wing tip to tip, weighing 45 lbs., and many smaller rays on cut bait.

I was in Bethany and Fenwick a week ago got some spot, croaker, kingfish, and sand perch from the surf. Took some cut bait to Indian river inlet at night and the shark action was nonstop. Big ones had my reels smokin!
