My uncle lives near Grass Valley, so we've been planning a fishing trip to Bullard's Bar Reservoir next week, Kokanee are small but super plentiful...plus the limit is ten each.
Englebright is below Bullard's and is a long skinny dammed river reservoir, it gets cold water released from the bottom of Bullard's, and has become a good large Trout prospect. I've never been to either, so there is an acclimation period, and it seems like Englebright may be the way to go for a day trip.
I was also looking at checking out the boat in camp sites that either has, we are talking about taking a several day camping trip and that sounds like a fun way to go. August when we are doing this is hot, but the Kokanee are schooling up in deep water and should be easier to find and jig for.
I saw someone posting something about fishing Englebright and was wondering if anyone has any experience with that lake through the summer.
Definitely bullards bar, kokanee easy to catch and camping everywhere on the lake. Engalbrite for me is more of a winter trout fishing spot. I prefer dark day boat ramp because the one at the dam is packed with people and boats in the summer.

Dark day is lighter traffic huh?
I reserved one of the boat in camp sites from a Wednesday to Sunday mid August, got one closest to the water.
Nice. Not less traffic just easier and less walk to the parking lot. How much was the campsite?
