Oh brother!! Not Bowfin's again🤬🤬🤬. Got out for the last couple hrs after my art class tonight got a couple nice fat ones.... And two Bowfins got slimed again had to dig my little black frog from the jaws of death😜 was expecting rain but it didn't happen. There were not quite as many blow ups tonight but still enough to know they were feeding on the fry from possibly crappie and or gills, maybe something else I couldn't tell the water was too stained. All on the black frog.🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🇺🇲🇺🇲
Nicely done, but even though those dogfish (bowfin) are supposed to be good table fare, I don’t know how to filet them.

You’re tearing them up again frogman. Never caught a bowfin, heard they fight pretty darn well.

Another awesome evening Frogman. It's been a long time since I caught a Bowfin, but I remember that they pull pretty good. Thanks for sharing.
During my high school years use to fish for bowfin. They loved peeled crawdad tails and soft crawdads. Never did
care for them as table fare. Their meat would turn to mush, after a short while out of water. They needed to be fried fairly soon after catching. Some people really loved them and would be waiting for the ones I caught. They were hard fighters. I fished on the bottom for them, and their bite was to bring your line in towards you and take it back out. The second time in doing this when the line was tight, set the hook and the fight was on.

That line up all on the black frog? That's impressive Andy. That's really a good way to really know your lure and what it can and can't do. Reminds me years ago when I would play all 18 holes with just one club just to familiarize myself with individual club characteristics (OK, I did this on slow days but did get yelled at on occasion when putting with a wood).

OJ - sure you're not mistaking that with a northern snakehead which are excellent tablefare? Bowfin filets are kinda mushy/mealy and have a muddy catfish taste.
