I've narrowed down my next baitcaster to these two. I do a lot of inshore fishing so I deal with wind constantly. The DC would be really nice for those windy days. I'm not new to baitcaster so wondering if I really even need a DC reel.

I thought the slx was a freshwater reel. I don’t have the dc but I do have the regular slx and the curado 200 k and they are both are quality reels. I use the curado for popping corks on inshore trips and the slx for jigs in the freshwater. The slx definitely handles light tackle better and the curado is a bit more solid. Don’t know if this helps but I figured I’d let you in on what I know. Good luck

I think DC reels are more with higher price point. Id say at that price poi t you would be better of paying for better bearing and internal. Don’t have experience with curado but slx is a decent reel that could do better. If you aren’t decided on getting a shimano I would also consider the daiwa tatula svtw

That was my train of thought. Getting better internals vs dc. I have looked at the tatula but haven't got to play with one. I'll have to get one in my hands.

Personally I like the reeling feeling of the tatula better. Definitely check it out in the shop as I think it can differer person by person

I have a Curado DC and got it for exactly the reason you want one. I fish regularly from shore, at a spot where there always seems to be a headwind. Sometimes light, sometimes not. I have used baitcasters for years but still seem to get frustrated with the backlashes in head winds. I can now throw light lures strait into the wind and not even need to thumb it. My wife who still has always been baitcast challenged shall we say, wants one now. They are nothing short of amazing.
