Looking to change from my current Lowrance unit (Hook 9 ?).
The Lowrance seems to freeze a lot and is (for me) overly complicated.
I fish inland lakes, mostly trolling for trout, Kokanee, etc.
Appreciate any input.
Thanks

I’m also looking for new electronics. I also have an older Lowrance that freezes a lot. Looking at Garmin units.

Just bought a Garmin 93,got in mounted on boat last sat.used it at M&G.
Worked excellent, touch screen is nice even if ur computer illiterate like myself.
So far it seems very user friendly. Would highly recommend it
Hope this helps, good luck in your search

I have that model in mind. $1000. without the transducer which is another $200. Not cheep but has great reviews. Thinking about getting the Garmin model 63 with the 7” screen. Lists for $650 with the transducer included. Not as many bells and whistles as the 93 but a little more user friendly. The 63 unit has a high quality color screen definition in regards to structure and fish ID.which are my main needs along with accurate depth readings, water temp, and trolling speed. I mostly troll for trout and salmon in fresh water. My buddy has the Lowrance hook9 it’s to complicated for me. Sometimes too much info is a bad thing. Remember the good old days when we still caught fish without all the electronics! I remember the good old days fishing in the delta in my uncles boat. He had a Raycom depth sounder which he used to determine depth only. No fish ID or any other options that we have today. It was his years of knowledge that put fish in the boat!

I'm also interested in other people's recommendations. I have the Hook5 and not very user friendly to me...plus a little small for my aging eyes.

I would suggest at least 7” screen. And a unit that has high resolution.

Have u seen some of the electronics on the boats competing in the bass pro circuit. They have multiple screens larger than my 17” home computer! Does anyone think that fishing with over $20 thousand dollars in electronics aboard is what fishing is all about. But it might be a small price to pay to win a million!

Should be banned in pro tournaments. If you want to see a pro angler rant against live scope/forward facing sonar, check out Randy Blaukat YouTube. He has some very good videos on tips and tactics for bass fishing.

Thanks for this information. I fished with a guy last week who had Garmin electronics with screens at the front and rear of his boat. Graphics were super clear and it was flawless all day.
I see Cabelas/Bass Pro has the Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 93sv Fish Finder/Chartplotter Combo with GT54 Transducer for $700 which does not seem horrible for price.

Bought a Garmin last month Echomap ultra 106 with G/T 54 transducer at cabelas for $999.99
And a Garmin Panoptix live scope transducer 10in touch screen also $999.97 works awesome
