Managed to get out mid day and take the kayak for a bob and paddle. Tons of boat traffic and wake waves coming from all directions but I did managed to do some trolling with 2 lines. Missed one strike and got one solid hook up on a smallmouth bass...right at lunch time!

Launching from the beach. Thank goodness for low range 4WD on the truck! It's been very dry and the sand is super soft as far as traction goes!

If I only could use 2 adjectives for this bass, I'd say...husky and broad! This guy went airborne as soon as he struck. I could tell from the line trajectory as it went parallel to the water. Wish I had a rear view mirror on the kayak!

Beautiful Smallie Yaker. Glad you were at the right lunch counter at feeding time. Thanks for the pix.

Thank you Saw1! It was blistering hot around here today so my plan was actually just to go paddle and maybe take a swim. Then I thought..."Gee...no sense paddling without lures in the water!"

Thank you Rhyno! There were several bass boats fishing this area real hard when I arrived, and in talking with them and keeping an eye open, the action was very slow...so I considered myself "lucky" to have found a hungry one! Nobody had caught anything in this zone...which tends to get a lot of pressure. It's a better beach for swimming than fishing.

That’s a good highlight…I have not been out fishing for a few weeks, too busy with other stuff. My fishing highlights lately have been “The Stage’s” pics and info. Thankfully nice people like you share them.

Yes indeed Saw1! I have been getting back into snorkeling more these days because a few years ago I discovered that the cost of a prescription lens set on diving goggles had plummeted to under $100 so I invested in an upgrade and now I can see more clearly to enjoy scouting for fish!

Thank you Bassmatter! I was glad I had my cell phone with me. Last night I charged up the battery in my "old" mini digital pocket camera...which I had planned to start using again...and somehow it failed to initialize and would not allow me to take any pictures! Got to investigate that...so for now it's back to the trusty cell phone camera!
