How long should I wait to change places when I'm catfishing?
Allatoona lake Georgia, why?
bigkat05 you fishing from a boat or the bank?
If I know I'm in a good spot and I'm on the bank and I've got good catfish bait, I'm comfortable and I've got a nice fire going and cold beer? I'm not moving. Let them bastards come to me.

Just trying to help.
I prefer chicken livers for bait the fresher the better.
That’s the ‘spirit’...I like your style.
Bigcat: the guys are asking about bait and place for a reason. Example: cutbait in a river will draw fish quicker [generally] than Stillwater; but a stinkbait in deep water may work better than in a shallow stream. If you’ve ever watched catfish or even carp in clearwater, they will detect scent almost immediately within a 30 foot radius of where it’s dropped, then they start circling in, or rather swimming in ovals drawing nearer the source of scent. As they get closer, the scent is stronger and they home in quicker. So, if you have good bait, in my opinion [and everbody’s got one, you asked] give it ten minutes max, throw to another spot - wait ten, another cast- wait ten. Cover the reachable area and likely spots. Then move and start over. If you have your fire in a charcoal bucket, and the cold ones in a cooler, take them with you on down the bank. An old timer I fished with back in the middle of last century told me to wait one cigarette, then cast again. I’ll let you in on a secret: if you’re tightlining and holding your pole, know that the fish can sense your pulse, and they don’t like it. Prop your pole and let it rest. Drink beer one handed and be ready to set the hook as needed.🤠
I was sorta semi joking about let them come to me. I used to do a lot of cat fishing, both lake and river, from a boat and from the shore. I always propped my rod on a holder, but I used a Shimano Baitrunner reel that allows the fish to take the bait and run with it. A great reel for cat fishing especially when you got a beer in your hand. I always found cut mackerel to be a great bait. Oily and bloody as hell and not easy to steal, it's pretty tough.
I had one pole with chicken liver and another pole with hot dog with strawberry jello and garlic. Both about 8- 10 feet deep on a pole holder with the drag loose enough so I could hear it if it pulled.

Sounds right to me.
4 of us went the other night only caught 3.
Lonestar lake by Lawrence Kansas.
I've been in Georgia 3 months now and the only legitimate fish I've caught has been a 1/2 lb bass lol. It's been tough to say the least
