No matter where you fish in the Wisconsin Fox River system the Goby's eat your bait. Do you think it's too late to save the Fox River System from this annoying fish?
I forgot my name is Kathy I fish from shore almost every day. From the Appleton, Wi. Area retired 69 yrs. old.

I am also from the Appleton area and have fished this area VERY HEAVILY FOR ALMOST 60 YEARS
At least twice a week on Winnebago or its system
never a Goby
A friend of mine caught one up north somewhere about 25 years ago
I wonder if they are as big a threat as some want to think
Let’s go fishing
I have fished the Fox River and that's all you catch is Goby. You throw your bait in and in a matter of seconds they eat your bait right off the hook. When I catch them I throw them on shore, that"s what the DNR told me to do. They said don't throw them back in the water. I've caught as many as 20 in an hour in the Fox in Kaukauna.

Well I’ll be darned
I didn’t know that they were that prevalent
Back in the day I fished the little lake and got no gobies
What do they bite on?
Kathy, their also a problem in lake Michigan, they move into the river systems from there, but their also a good bait fish for walleye's and smallies. A brown Mr twister is a good bait, but in some places like you mentioned there's just too many. Use small lures and spinners and you have better luck
Everything that is moving.
We love in Northern California for strippers they come from Asia in cargo ships when they pump the bildges.
I haven't seen any in the Winnebago system either
They have the Menasha locks closed so they don't get in.
Use them as bait for your bigger fish.

Can not use for bait
It’s illegal to put them back in the water!
I keep them to feed my possems. They love them.

Do your possums like sheepshead? I can help you out!
I like sheephead for their lucky stones. I make necklaces from them. That's why I like catching them. They probably would eat one if I brought it home. Sheephead aren't biting too good lately.
