Cobweb lake trout...
Took the boat out for the first time this season...finally! Either I've got to put paddles on the boat...or a motor in the kayak...but one thing for sure, I was way overdue in getting behind the wheel of a boat this season!
My wife was feeling a bit off from seasonal allergies so she gave me the nod to go ahead and just fish alone this morning in the boat. I sure missed her 'auto pilot" skills, but did manage to hook 4 fish overall...only landing two.
Three lines went in at 9 am...2 downriggers with dodger/Spin-N-Glows and a large sized Dipsey Diver with a yellow perch colored spoon on it. First 2 fish were cisco, and since they have a small mouth and soft lips the hooks pull out very easily...right at the boat so I missed netting either one. Dang!
A short while later, both down rigger rods "popped" with fish on...and this time they both made it into the cooler! It was quite a fire drill with the double header and being solo, but as luck would have it, while I played the first fish the second one just hung out as I loosened the drag and placed the motor in neutral.
Since there is a two fish limit on lake trout, I was done for the day at 10 am. I told my wife that I would not stay out all day and roam around looking for other species to fill the creel with!
Happy Father's Day All!
Coming back to port after an hour of deep water trolling...60 feet deep water with lures down at 45 and 55'.
A couple of nice 8 pounders for the grill!
Beautifully colored "orange" meat for lunch!
Favored rigs of the morning. These caught both the cisco and lake trout. Dollar bill sized "ghost" dodgers and Spin-N-Glows for a lure.

Nice Lakers Yaker! Sounds like a fun day, even having to run the whole show by yourself. Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing..
PS:Glad the boat ran well.

Thank you Fredfish! I have been anxious to get out and start running the boat this season...especially since they almost doubled the cost of our seasonal ramp access permits! I like to get my money's worth!
It was very calm to start with, and then a slight breeze riffled the water towards the end of my outing. Just enough to cool off in the heat of the sun under the bimini top!
Thank you OJ! I marked a lot of trout, and I suspect that with a few more people on board we could have filled the cooler! I'll be eating fresh fish for the next several days now!

Thank you Rhyno! I forgot to write a comment in my story about how I named the post. I was thinking about getting the "cobwebs" off the boat since it had been stored in my garage with a tarp over it for the past 7 months!
Although getting two fish on at once is a thrill, it would be better if they bit 15 minutes apart! Luckily they were both going in different directions so I got lucky with no line tangles!
Thank you NJ219! It was a great way to start Father's Day for me!

Thank you Saw1! I appreciate the compliment! It's a fun boat to fish from for just about anything...although not as stealthy as a bass boat. The lake trout pull pretty good, so it's a nice battle until they reach the net!
