Wondering if anyone has any secret method for getting that stank out of the shoes that are in and it if the water.
I have a super comfy pair of Columbia boat shoes that I kayak in. Constantly wet and then dry and then wet.
I’ve washed them and it helps, but one trip later the stench is back in full effect.

There is no solution.
Either wear socks and keep your feet dry or wear sandals.

Was them ,dry them, then place in the freezer to freeze ! This should kill the odor causing bacteria !

Crocs, or wetsuit booties.

I bought some food service sanitizing stuff. You mix it with water. I soaked my foul wading shoes in it and it helped tremendously.
No idea what it will do the the materials but it’s working great so far.

Get a large bucket. Dump a ton of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and add water. Keep the shoes submerged for 24 hours. Take the shoes out rinse with water. Air dry in the garage not under the sun. Works every time.

Put dryer sheets in them when not in use.

Put them in a bag full of sea salt let them sit for a few hours.
Put the bag in the freezer once all the moisture is drawn out.
You can do this with instant rice too but I find that salt keeps them sterilized much longer.

Be careful using salt. It can dry out leather and cause it to shrink!

I have an ozone generator. I put it in a large tote with 4 or 5 pair of deck shoes. Close the tote and run the generator 24 hours. Ozone kills bacteria and mold. The odor is gone. Not healthy for human to breath.
In the past I tried freezing them, hydrogen peroxide, even bleach. The results were not good.

Sounds crazy but this really works! The smell is caused by a bacteria. Put the shoes in your freezer overnight. You won't smell anything until you introduce more bacteria. So you need to scrub your feet good to.
I'll take the comfort of a pair of shoes over stench, any day. And unless you have a date wearing them, why does it matter ? I can't say I bother checking the smell of my fishing wardrobe ever. Just isn't a thought pattern to do so. Heading out for the evening w/ friends...yeah, shower, deodorant, cologne, even mouthwash and breathmints. But Fishing ? Naaah, don't care, gonna stink somewhere from SOMETHING by the end of the day, anyway......or change your shoe choice.
