New fisher looking to find a good area for onshore fishing in any of the portage lakes or turkeyfoot lakes. Anyone from the area with advice?

Welcome to the stage Cbluegill sorry I'm not much help, others maybe along. I'd call your local bait shops an also Google and YouTube are great resources. Good luck man an share your pics an report 👍
I've had good luck at Nimisila Reservoir gills, crappie, and some bass
Just a FYI try long lake, there are some huge bass in this lake
Went fishing at Portage Lake once. Rented a pontoon boat caught nothing on the boat but did catch a nice bass on shore. It was neat some docks by the pontoon rental place. Don't even remember what it was called but if you find a place on shore, the bass are in there for sure. Sorry couldn't be much more help than that.
These lakes are over boated, over populated with people and over fished. Your best bet is to find Long Lake. Fishing with worms near weed beds is normally productive. Nice size bluegills are around the lake and they love worms or wax worms. Long Lake is the quietest of all the lakes and is away from a lot of the crazy traffic and crowds. There is a bait shop right on long lake and they used to rent boats as well. Years back it was called Z's Bait shop but it has changed ownership. Sorry I don't know the new name. Good luck to you and have fun.
