Got to the park at 6:15am to my surprise there were about a half dozen vehicles waiting for the park ranger to open the gates, usually the gates are open when I get to the park, after 45 mins. The ranger showed up to unlock the gate by that time there was a dozen vehicles waiting to get into the park. So it was a bit of a late start for me, after hiking out to the back side of the south lake it was 7:20am by the time I started fishing! Sun shining no wind just a beautiful morning! Another action packed day! Caught 6 Bass! And the biggest sun fish that I have ever caught! I think it’s a sun fish I could be wrong, when I caught It I thought it was a nice crappie and got excited because I have never caught a crappie out of R.F.P there some real nice ones there! I wasn’t disappointed with the catch it was a great fight! Got back to my car at 11:45am it was 80 degrees. Had a real fun morning at R.F.P! Good luck and be safe!!

Thanks Fred! Only three days left of the school year! Now I’ll start using my sick days, vacation days, and P.N days. This is the time of year I can use them all up! Much rather fish week days! Have a good one!

Thanks! I’m not sure whats the difference between a sunfish and a Bluegill is, I don’t target either of them, all I no is the one I caught today was a beast!

That is a really nice one, Matt! Pound for pound, they give as good a fight as any. IMO

Sunfish is the broad name for the family of fish that we call Sunfish. It includes Bluegill, Redear(Shellcracker),Pumpkinseed, Rock Bass,Warmouth Pygmies,Redbreast,Longear, Green Sunfish and others less often encountered. Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass and White and Black Crappies and Fliers are also members of the Sunfish family.

There you go, Matt! You're a fish-catching machine! Btw, 2nd pix isn't a crappie but it is in the sunfish family--I think it's a green sunfish.

Thanks DC! It was a fun catch, there’s a ledge where I was fishing and it tried to use it to its advantage! Have a great one buddy! Good luck and be safe!!
