I will assume Sunset beach is in California. Can't help you from NC, but from what I have read there are quite a few forum members out your way. Good luck on the beach.

Shark fishers here use kayak`s to boat the shark bait out into surfs second sandbar or deeper water and fight from the beach! Seen a few try in yaks too???
