Being a southern man can you send side photo if available to see the colors, cool looking head and thick body. Are they bony or most meat on the sides? Looks like a surface predator did you get it on plug or bait>
Thanks for sharing the picture nice size fish.

I caught it on a number 2 hook with a earthworm, I use a wire lead and he actually destroyed the metal clip holding the hook on...this is the only other pic I have

Nice catch Eric, most definitely a very good eating fish, they are full of very small bones but just wash the fish real good just cut the meat off both sides with the skin left on them cut crossways down to the skin and deep fry and all those little bones will just dissolve and it's one of the best freshwater eating fish in the lake.🎣

They can be bony, but this size isnt bad, I dont keep any less than 10 or 11 inches. He was in approx 15 feet water, they like weeded areas...sorry but this is the only other pic I have, it doesnt really show the mouth

Most people hate them. I however, am a big fan. While they are not Northern Pike they are great fighters and aggressive fish. I fish Lake Winnipesauke in Moultonborough. I regularly catch them at 19 inches plus. I keep the ones 19 inches or longer. They are a challenge to clean as they have wye bones. Go to YouTube and learn how to remove them. The meat is delicious. The largest I have caught on this lake is 23 inches. This is my friend Joe with his 23 incher he caught last week. Is is a Southern man as well.
