Did a ton of surf fishing on the gulf coast but recently moved up to the PNW. I havent had much luck fishing up here in the sound and decided let's try and go surf fish since I am very used to that.
According to what I read there are surf perch, lingcod, halibut, and flounder. I'm used to using shrimp and mullet. What bait should I use up here? Also what size weight? Used to 1-3oz but read it is stronger current. Should I go 4-6?

Shrimp is really good you could also use squid or anchovies. and yea you want a heavier weight like 4-6( id use a pyramid weight so it doesn't roll around).

Alright awesome. Are there bait shops out that way or should I stop at like a Hmart or other Asian market to pickup squid anchovies and shrimp?

There's bait shops all over that hold all of that stuff.

I've been learning surf perch fishing for a while now, and haven't been able to nail down a hard and fast pattern for timing re: tides. I'm farther north of Long Beach, above ocean shores. For bait, Clam necks, sand shrimp and gulp camo sandworms seem to work best. I use 1 oz pyramid sinker about 18 inches below one or two dropper loops with#4or6 bait hooks. I have had most success during the last two hours of an incoming tide. Let us know how you do.
