launched at 0630 and headed out to the mouth of the river where we found bupkis. The caissons were barren so back into the river we went. Stopped at the place we caught the ones last week and all hell broke loose. We were catching White perch hand over fist. Then I get hit HARD in about 18" of water. Thinking I got the Mac daddy perch it was a Striped carp, oh well, Mr. Dave my Korean war vet friend is eating good tonight. He usually calls me at 1400hrs on Friday to see what his dinner is gonna be, lol. Good man, dropped him 1/2lb of crabmeat to make Rockfish Imperial with, we'll do crab cakes tomorrow with the other 1/2 + 1lb. All tolled, 39 nice White perch and 1 22" Rockfish. All caught in less than 4' of water, the big perch were in super shallow, 14-18" of water on an outgoing tide. We sent 6 bags of fillets to the freezer, 6 more days like this and we'll be set for the winter.
Nice catching how do you like the Bubba knife?

Nice catching Uncle Rob. Is that considered freshwater? Slot length in Saltwater is 28"-31".

Love it, couldn't live without it. I did those 39 White perch in 30 minutes. In an hour's time, they were filleted, washed and sealed in their bags. I just bought a 3rd battery for it.

No, it's tidal Chesapeake bay, brackish water. 19-31" is the slot in the bay. Out on our coast, it's the 28-31" slot. I got that Rock on a little #13 Tony Acetta spoon with a minnow on it. We damn near ran out of minnows.

That's cool, we only have one slot length here, river or Sound.
A friend gave me his Rapala fillet knife and it was also good, but I heard rave reviews of The Bubba blade. With all of the White perch and other fish we fillet I needed a fast way to get them prepped for the freezer.

We got another 24 today. Another few weeks like this and we'll have the freezer filled. I think we'll be hunting Specks next weekend, the tides will be right. Got a seasons best at 12" for me and an 11.5" for my wife.
Looks like your tearing them up!
We planned on crabbing this morning but with the wind decided to wait for calmer seas.
