Passaic river pike

I have heard alot lately that the Passaic river in NJ is loaded with monster pike and I would love to get in on the action but I don't have a boat. I would appreciate any advice or info on locations to shore fish, thank you.

I would love to fish the great falls but it is not someplace you want to visit by yourself. I heard the river holds pike too. Caught a small one there many years ago.

Is that wariness about visiting the Great Falls alone due to the prevalence of two-legged predators?

Pike prefer calm water. Fish any pools of calm water along the shore. They also like to hide under docks, logs and in weeds. look for breaks in the current and fish where you think a pike could easily lie in wait in the calm area as food is swept in from the current. calm areas where streams feed into other rivers or lakes. Make sure to have a steel leader and a good pole!

Fish the twin bridges off of rt46 right behind willow brook mall. If you can’t locate it stop by Fairfield bait and tackle just up the road.Those guys are pretty good. They will put you in the right direction. Lots of big pike out there.Good Luck

If the Pike are not hitting bring some corn or dough and have fun with the huge Carp that are in the river.
