Neat stuff. Unfortunately here not much is preserved. When it gets old they tear it down. In Europe so much was destroyed in the war they preserve what they have.

You may find this interesting. Years ago the first horn of the Met Opera used to ride horse down to Manhattan from Westchester for rehearsals and concerts. The city asked if they could build a train station on his property. He agreed with the stipulation they name the town Valhalla [Wagner's Ring Opera.] A framed picture of him goes to whatever horn player lives in Valhalla at the time. Right now it's Will DeVos.
