First in line at the gate. 69°water temperature at the ramp, up to 71.8° in other spots as the day went on.
I decided to start in my "finishing "spot today. First pass, threw a Buzzbait 25x, nada. Second pass threw a 2.5 Squarebill 25x, nada. Third pass I picked up the worm rod, 2nd cast BANG! Fish of the day, 3lbs 4oz. After that worked my way down to the Guarantee tree's cove, and popped a 2 pounder there. Headed for the Brushpile, and pulled a Snot Rocket out of there and let him jump off at the boat. Moved inside the island and caught a 2lb 3oz LM there. Moved over to the deep bar off the island and threw a Paca Craw on a EWG Ned Head, hoping for a Smallie, but caught a 2.75 lb Larry instead. Headed down to the tree where I broke off the big one last trip, but didn't get a bite. Talked to a couple guys fishing off the bank and told them to try their live bait around the trees. Moved back up the east bank and hooked a nice Smallie on a worm, but he pulled the Smallmouth Spazz at boatside and threw the hook. That was the only fish I lost today. A little further north I got one more Largemouth, 2.5 lb. Went back up to the finishing spot but didn't get another bite, so I called it @ 3pm. Fun day, and only one lost fish.

Thanks Four. I usually only fish wacky style in open water, or next to weeds, when they come up. I've been fishing in wood a lot, and even weedless wacky hooks get snagged in the tree branchs. Later in the year when the weed beds are up I'll try them, along with the Powerbait Max Scent ones I usually use.

Nice fish, looks like you had another great day. Those baits look good, i.e., the color and the way you have them hooked, of course the movement helps. Thank you for the pics and info.

Thanks DV. I fish in heavy cover, mostly wood, so burying the hook points is the only way to go. You're welcome, glad you liked them.

Thanks Matt. Starting with the biggest one of the day, had my hopes up for some monsters. Didn't happen, but still a fun day.
