We went to Reedsport to fish for stripers to try to check off a bucket list item and after only 5 cast on the Smith River YES! I checked off a striper for my bucket list!! I thought this is easy but...The next day We fished nine hours covering 8 miles of the Smith in a boat without touching a fish. So much for easy fishing. We did get to go to Coos bay and get two limits of Gapers so clam chowder tonight!

Congratulations on your first striper. I enjoy eating clams but I've never heard of a Gaper. Got to look that one up.

Buddy of mine went to sawyers rapids with drift boat and caught a cooler full. nothing on the smith yet

If your from summer lake you know about the whipers from close to there, love catching them. Great fighters. Won't mention the body of water

Interesting enough that I have never caught one here had to to to the coast to catch one. It seem when you live near good fishing it sometimes just escapes you to take the time to fish.
