Haven’t used a barrel like that in decades. With today’s outboards it s not necessary; just use muffs and run the engine for 10 to 25 minutes after EACH use.

When you over heat a engine with rabbit ears, burn up the pump, blow the head gasket, you will go back to the old stupid barrel! It takes only one time and kiss your engine goodbye for over heating it! A old barrel won’t leak but rabbit ears does!! Rabbit ears are for the rich, barrels are for the good old folks!! Sorry 😐 if I step on someone’s toe. A lot of people live in the woods that don’t have the water to waste on flushing out a motor. Like me!!!
