That fish ended my blue fishing 🎣 for four days. When I lifted it out of the inlet by the leader, I got a bad cut in the first joint of my little finger. Then I got a lot of cuts after I put my hands in its gills. My application for a NJ Skillful Angler Recognition Award was accepted, but my name is not on the leaderboard yet. I’ll be fresh water fishing 🎣 for the next 4 days. I caught 37 blues this year and none last year during the spring run. I’m hoping to get a fish 🐟 tag return soon.

They are dangerous critters, in more ways than one Bands. Sorry you got wounded. Cuts inside the joints take forever to heal.

I caught 19”, 22”, 24”, 24”, 25.5” and 32” and put them tail down in a 5 gallon bucket of water before I tagged them. A few jumped out of the bucket but didn’t throw the hook. While trying to take a photo of one, it jumped up and bit the back of my hand but it was a glancing nip and I only bled a little. It’s better to put them in the bucket head first. Jetty fishing is very dangerous. I’m going fresh water fishing for the next four days. It’s much safer. I didn’t see a snake 🐍 yet this year but the mosquitoes 🦟 are biting.

I know what you mean about those blues. Had one nip the end of my thumb off trying to get the hook out. Clipped it off to the tip of the nail.

Saw fishermen beat bluefish with clubs before unhooking and keeping them.
