That's one of the reasons I love sunfish so much. So many different species, such fantastic colors.

I whispered softly to him and if he did not cooperate for a picture I would eat him, and then he cooperated

That's my favorite panfish by a mile, I'm lucky enough to live on a river that allows me to leave the dock and and catch Catfish, stripers and redfish (certain times of year) only a few hundred yards away. Go a few miles to the left and have the some of if not the best redbreast fishing in the world, go right and catch all the flounder, trout and redfish a guy could want.
The Redbreast fishing is crazy good, plus it's quick and easy. Many afternoons after work I'll load my daughters in the boat and take a quick 15-20 minute boat ride and catch 50-60 and still be home in time for dinner.

As much as we all love big fish, everyone should have a soft spot for panfishing. It's not hard to really get into some good panfish like Redbreast, especially with children

I love them too. Love that big mouth. Pumpkin seeds are my favorite when it comes to color. I wish I knew how to post a picture ??
