Went to manasquan inlet this morning, fished the end of low tide and then into high tide. Caught 2 blues, 3 pounders or so. But it seems that the bite seems to be better on the low tide, and on jigs with a 4 gulp on your hook. Some were using bombers, but it was a hit or miss.

In the last 3 or 4 times down there, I've gone thru 3-4 bags of gulps, I was using the 6 inch but they were biting all the tails off, so I switched to the 4 inch gulps, but I still think it's better on the low tide.

I prefer throwing metal with blues. Caught so many that the crippled herring spoon had no paint left, nothing but tooth marks

Never used a crippled herring, don't know what it looks like. How many ounces is it, I'll try and look one up on eBay. How much longer do you think the blues will be running, do you have any idea. Thanks

You might want to try otter tails on your jigs instead of gulp. They hold up way better and have scent and great action. Available in straight or curly tails and several popular Colors.

Usually go with gulp for fluke or flounder, then if the blues come through put on the metal.

There's usually either a stingsiver or crippled herring in my fluking backpack.
