I am not a boat guy, and have never put one in or taken one out by trailer
My kayak doesn't count, because I carry it to the water. But...i have played around on the farm, and got pretty good backing trailers and wagons loaded with pumpkins. Wish I had seen this before almost crashing into the barn.

Great advice and we'll done instructions. I never backed up a trailer when I didn't get frustrated, especially when the wife was back there guiding me?!Hope this helps!

https://youtu.be/iWh6_HKcJJgThat's the way I have always told people who are just learning. I have done it differently and can't seem to change

It works Bob. Been using that truck fir years. FIL was a driver for years before he went in and did dispatch.
This is a good video I have seen it before. AS long as I don't have to make a big turn as I back up I do okay. Once there is a big turn involved I have troubles.
As long as you go slow and easy you're fine.

After my daughter got her driver's license I taught her how to hook up and tow our horse trailer.
I made her weave through the 6 rows trailers (12 U-turns). Told her she couldn't use the trailer without me until she made it all the way around without having to pull forward to straighten it out. Only took her three tries.
I also taught her how to parallel park it (not as easy as it looks).
I wish some of the yahoos at the boat ramp could drive a trailer as well as she can!
My advice to new trailer owners is to practice, practice, practice until it feels natural. Also keep in mind that all trailers are different--a short one will respond quicker than a long one.
Regarding your challenge with big U-turns, all I can recommend is that you set up the turn and make SMALL corrections. If you can't get it going with small corrections pull forward and straighten it out until you can.

https://youtu.be/iWh6_HKcJJgI have been backing trailers since before I had a driver's license (think back when the wheel was square). That said, I might try hand on the bottom of the wheel, never thought of it.

https://youtu.be/iWh6_HKcJJg Good video, Some people should have a hard time, I think the biggest problem they have is over correcting.

There it is, keep the corrections tiny, and don't try to fix a big over correction, straighten it out and keep the changes small.
