Looking for more information in and around Bend, Redmond and Prineville. Boat launch access and stream fishing. Thanks.

Prineville has two lakes near it that are worth visiting. If you have an Off Road Vehicle. Antelope Flat Reservoir is a bit off pavement but can be very productive. If you have inflatable small boat or float tube it will work great at Antelope Flat Reservoir. Don’t mix it up with Antelope Reservoir.

Small metal lures can be productive off the shore. If the water has a high turbidity rating ( murky or muddy ) try to cast beyond the muddier water on shoreline. Worms with smoked oyster juice ( can ) can really bring them your way. Powerbait or trolling wedding rings behind a ford fender or other favorite trolling rig will put them on the bite as well at Antelope Flat Reservoir. There is free campground. It is between Maury Mtns and Highway 20 that goes between Bend and Burns. Use GPS for best results. I suggest a few night there so you have time to focus on fishing. It’s 1.5 hours or so off the highway from highway 20. It might be easier to go from Prineville on the other highway look at maps to figure out your best route.

I have been there several times. Hopefully snow is gone and you can access the Reservoir. ATV and Duel Sports or another option. You can launch a big boat when the water level is up. The Boatramp is dicey when low it may be muddy but I will figure it’s close to full currently without driving out there.

My friends and I have hooked many fish and they are excellent eating. It does NOT have a health warning due to Mercury etc from Mining there. Please post pictures and let us all know how it is.

You may be in Rattlesnake Country here and there. Safety warning.

NEVER put your hands or feet where you can NOT see. Always use a fishing rod or a stick to move grass and stomp feet ( walk with a heavy foot ) to activate rattlers. It can and will save your life if you heed this very important warning.

Snakes are usually near water because their prey need water.

There are several great fishing lakes off of Cascade Lakes Highway out of LaPine, south of Bend. Crane Prairie, Odell, Paulina, East Lake, North and South Twin,... it's a robust list. Check out the ODFW stocking schedule and it will give you some ideas.

Thanks Russ, I'm familiar with most of them. I've been to East Lake more than the other's but it's been so difficult to launch a boat in the last 3 years. Hopefully things will be better this season.

Scratch east lake, it is low and still frozen as of today… Paulina is clear but the public boat ramp is not usable, but the lodge is open $10.00 to launch. Talked to fisherman and he got limit on kokes and two big browns. Also went to Crane and it is ok but limited catches.
Cultus no body there and it is berely open some snow on the road, dock has been put in. Good luck

I agree those are nice lakes. Twin Lakes can be really productive. I landed a big 20" Trout on the Twin Lake with the rental boats etc. We were bank fishing to the right of the Rental area and launch ramp. Right of it looking towards the boat ramp from the Parking Area. Just had a chair and cooler. Power Bait with about a 14" leader. Sliding lead above a swivel so fish do not feel the weight of the lead.

John,
Cultus Lake is open, we were out yesterday amongst 20-ish boats participating in a derby.
We didn't look at the board, but managed to land a nice 3lb 22" Lake Trout on a rainbow spoon.
Davis Lake is open as well, I've heard great reports of bass fishing.
Fall River has recently been stocked and fishing well.
Boats are launching at Odell.

Have fun, good luck, & be safe!

Was able to use public ramp yesterday
One nice brown and limited on kokes all the way to 13 inches, yes they are big but deep to 50-100 feet.
We are talking about Paulina lake.
Did not try East, too much fun at Paulina.
