Does anybody know what the fishing is like at the Greer lakes or at Holly lake? Please let me know. I’m going up in two weeks. Thanks.
I’m going in four weeks.
Hope the answers are good.
We were at Bunch and River last weekend, just checking it out, and both bank and Boat fishermen were "killin" it. Very nice limits all around.
That’s awesome thanks for letting me know. I haven’t been able to find any recent fishing reports for the area.
Check out White Mountain Apache Tribe.

Some times they give current reports.
They are completely open and full due to or wet winter. They have been stocked at least once by. Game and fish. Big lake is just down the road and it also is open and full. Not sure if campgrounds are open yet.
Thanks Kenrudisill,
Great update. Really looking forward to getting up there and showing them some flies.
Fished Hawley, Earl Park, and Horseshoe Seneca last weekend caught a few at Earl and Horse Shoe nothing at Hawley. Wanted to make it over to Big Lake but never got around to making it out there! Spoke with some anglers who said they did real good at Big Lake . Caught my fish all around the dams of those lakes. Still chilly early mornings and as soon as sun sets so pack warm clothing.
Great report. Thanks Croc41
If you're going up to Greer, skip the pawns which is what they are as opposed to actual lakes and Hawley lake is hit or miss, and instead hit the little Colorado River that runs through the Greer valley. I've never miss limiting out on trout in that river, ever. Plus it's more like a creek so it's very easy to fish.
I don’t fly fish. Isn’t that what you have to do in the creeks?
Not at all. Just do what I taught my son and grandson to do, take is lighter rod as you can possibly have, with as light as line as you can possibly have like 2 lb test if possible 4 lb if not, a tiny little split shot the smallest one you have, and the size 12 or 14 egg hook and a jar of your favorite salmon eggs or Berkeley fayco alternative. You'll catch more trout than you know what to deal with. I personally always press down the barbs to make for easy release.
Very interesting, nopcog. As often as I have fished Greer I’ve never wet a line in the creek.
By chance does it hold brookies?
thanks... maybe i will try that this trip....
